On Thursday July 12th, 10:48 PM EST, the Cancer New Moon is also a Partial Solar Eclipse/SuperMoon.
Although new moons are usually great for new beginnings, this particular new moon is a tad intense and may not be the best time to
start something new. Pluto, the planet of both darkness and transformation, is opposing the Cancer new moon, and as a result there is the potential for power struggles and unearthing deep wounds/grievances and emotions connected to the past, home, family, and also your career or place in the world, and authority figures. How strongly you feel the new and full moons each month has to do with whether or not they are hitting personal planets in your natal chart.
Eclipses have the potential to bring in big news and sweeping changes. You can feel these energies up to 6 weeks
beforehand and in the few weeks following as well. We have two eclipses this month: July 12th & 27th.
Mars is in retrograde (to read more about Mars Retrograde, click here) and Mercury will be joining by the end of the month. The theme, then, for this month is "more being and less doing." When planets go into retrograde you may
feel a welcome slow down and a chance for a "breather." You could feel a 'stuck' energy if you are trying to push through with plans that are not working out; if that's the case, take it as a sign to surrender and wait until the time is right. When Mercury goes into retrograde, thinking can be slower and communication can prove challenging. It's a time to "release" the thinking mind; meditation and yoga are the perfect remedies for Mercury
retrograde.
On the other hand, Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and abundance, is going direct on July 10th, so this may open doors for opportunities that have been on hold or not in sight, and you may feel that your inspiration has suddenly returned (this is especially the case for my Sadge and Pisces friends because Jupiter is your ruling
planet). Jupiter is still moving through the intense sign of Scorpio and since Jupiter expands what it touches, this is a sort of mixed bag of "light" and "heavy." Scorpio symbolizes the underworld/trauma, crises, power, and rebirth (the phoenix rising from the ashes), as well as partnerships, intimate relationships, sex, and sharing resources. Any of these Scorpio themes may come into focus after Jupiter returns to his normal
pace.
