The New Moon in the sign of Scorpio is tomorrow, Sunday, October 27th. As you know, the New Moon is an excellent time for inspiration and new beginnings. An important piece of setting intentions is imagining what you would like to manifest as if it has already happened - there is a deeper meaning behind blowing out birthday candles, and that is the 'letting go' or releasing of our wishes to a higher power/divinity/universe. It is a
recognition that we are not fully in control. Yes, it is important to set goals and to be proactive in achieving them, and it is equally important to imagine and to set our intentions free. We live in a masculine-dominant society that is focused on doing and achieving; the New and Full moon periods are opportune times to connect with the feminine or water element. Scorpio is a water sign and it is about deep emotions and inner work,
empowerment, and transformation. We must move through the muck, face the shadow self (which is, essentially, the wounded self), and be willing to be vulnerable - then we can be free of fear and soar like the Eagle above it all. Whoosh.
Tomorrow, Sunday October 27th, I am teaching my monthly New Moon Flow at
Beyond Yoga in Rye NY. This is a lovely and calming space. You will align with your intentions and weave them through a breath-centered, embodied practice, exploring poses with inspiration and space, and, most
importantly, taking the time to
feel in order to align with your imagination - an inspired place to create from. We have journals that you can keep by your yoga mat, and I will give you time at the end of practice to jot down any words, musings, images, etc. that come to you. You can register
HERE.
Some of you recently came to my
Ayurveda Workshop at Here & Now Yoga in Scarsdale, NY. We explored the elements (Air/Space, Fire/Water, Water/Earth) that make up the three Doshas, or mind/body constitutions, and how these elements that live in us are also outside of us, in nature. We discussed how we are affected on a daily basis by our body/mind makeup, and some of practices we can do to restore balance. We moved through a steady and grounded Vinyasa
practice (Fall contains the Air dosha, which rules movement) and I pointed out the ways we can practice yoga to align with our dominant doshas, in order to feel balanced and nurtured. I will be teaching more of these workshops in the future and will keep you posted on dates when I have them.
The Fall is a perfect time to explore Ayurveda - it is a time of change and movement when the Vata dosha dominates; it is common, especially for Vata dominant folks, to feel both
creative/inspired and unbalanced or ungrounded now. If you would like to do a deep dive Assessment into your constitution to determine imbalances and create a plan for wellness, please check out my
Ayurveda Offerings HERE. There is an initial Assessment that
includes Zoom/Video or in person meeting to discuss your Assessment findings and Wellness plan; you then have the option to continue working with me, on a monthly basis, as you integrate the new practices, foods, etc. You can also
EMAIL me for more information or to sign up.
