Full Moon/Super Moon in Libra 9:43 pm EST
This is the third and final Supermoon in the series of three that began at the start of the year. This bright, beautiful moon lands in the sign of Libra at 1 degrees. At the same time, the Sun enters the warrior of the zodiac, Aries, signaling the beginning of a new year in the Astrological Calendar. This is an important time, when the nights and
days are equal in length--a balance of light and dark in the world--reflecting our potential to balance these two elements within ourselves.
When I guide students through a Sun Salutation, I often refer to the meaning behind the movement; I might say “Go within” or “Let go” in Standing Forward Fold/Uttanasana, or “Begin again” in Mountain Pose. Nature guides us to move with the “ebbs and flows” of life. We are often completing something during a Full Moon period. The seeds of whatever was planted during the New Moon
period are manifesting. Emotions often come to the surface without warning. It’s time to release what has been growing, allow it to take form and know you did your best. You can always “begin again” during the next New Moon. During the Full Moon, rest your body. The moon energy is more about “being” than doing, and in the days following the full moon the idea is to rejuvenate/reboot, just like in Savasana (the Resting Pose).
The the last two Full Moons/Supermoons have also been at 1 degree (each Sign of the Zodiac is made up of 30 degrees), and this can indicate that something has come around full circle and/or you are circling back to something from the past. Mercury is still in Retrograde, emphasizing the theme of the
past/rewinding. The first degree of a sign can also signify full potency or potential.
Libra, the sign of this Moon, represents relationships, connection, the shadow self, balance, diplomacy, the arts. Libra is about how you see yourself through another’s eyes and the projections you make on others. You may feel energy around any of these themes; look to your Natal Chart to see which “house” the full moon is in. If you don't know

In Mid-April, I will be starting a new How to Read Your Natal Chart Class Series. This will include two foundational podcasts (on the 12 Signs, 12 Houses, and a brief intro. to the Planets) sent prior to the course start date. We will use your personal Natal Charts throughout the
course to learn, so you will receive lots of insight about your own Chart throughout the course as you learn HOW to read a Natal Chart. I am increasing the class size to 10 participants. Please EMAIL me to hold a spot if you're interested.
Libra is a cardinal sign, which means a “doing” energy and the Sun has moved into active Aries, therefore the desire to move and be productive may be strong, even though the full moon period is well suited for "down time"--your efforts are well used on Spring Cleaning, clearing out stuff (emails, clothes, emotions etc), re-decorating, reconnecting with people, circling back to past
projects, reigniting passion/inspiration.
This Full Moon may bring up heavy emotions and past pain, which runs very deep, so deep it’s difficult to articulate it in words. Chiron is the wounded healer, and whenever Chiron connects to the full moon there is potential for old wounds to resurface and also to clean them out. This brings us, full
circle, back to the Spring Equinox theme of light and dark. Can we hold space for both? Can we witness difficult emotions without getting completely swept away by them? Or, if we do get swept away, can we make our way back with grace and faith. Life is a balancing act and in all these practices that I share (Astrology, Ayurveda, Yoga), we are simply aiming to restore balance, to come back to center so we can feel aligned and at peace.
It’s time to clear out stagnation from the body and mind, to rejuvenate your center. A stimulating yoga practice, including Kapalabhati Breathing, helps to ignite your fire. If you can’t get to the studio, you can do my latest youtube Yoga for Spring Cleaning
VIDEO 1 & VIDEO 2.
Begin to shift, slowly, to lighter and slightly spicy foods, for example add ginger or pepper to your food. Eat less pasta, bread, and dairy (if that’s been your “go to”) because these foods will add to Kapha heaviness and congestion. Cilantro is a good herb for cleansing. Food choices will depend greatly on your natural Ayurvedic Constitution, but in general, if you are
feeling fairly balanced and healthy, you will likely be drawn to lighter/dryer/cooler foods in the coming weeks (these are the qualities of Vata that balance Kapha). If you would like to sign up for an free 30-minute Ayurvedic Phone Session, please do so HERE.
